How To Avoid Disruptions During An Office Renovation

At some point, every business will look to have an office renovation of some kind. It might be purely from the aesthetic perspective where you want your office to look better and more modern. Or, it might be necessary because you have structural problems that can no longer be overlooked. Regardless, you need an office renovation, and this leads to a considerable problem; disruptions. Clearly, when there’s a lot of work going on in your office, it can easily disrupt your employees and lead to a very unproductive workplace.

Organize Renovation Work Outside Of Working Hours

You can prevent all disruptions if you organize any renovation work to take place outside of your regular working hours. This means everyone will be at home, and the renovation can go ahead without causing disruptions or being held back by everyone in the office. It’s a smart idea, there are just a couple of problems. Firstly, some companies might not be willing to work during the hours you request. Or, they may charge extra to do the work after a particular time. If you’re lucky enough to come across contractors that will do your renovation work outside of regular working hours, then go for it. If not, then there are other solutions to this problem!

10 Must Have Resources to Grow Your Business

Work Out Of The Office

It will be almost impossible to have a productive day of work if there’s loads of noisy construction work going on or lots of things in your way. Instead of trying to make the best of a bad situation, just leave the office altogether. As you can see on the Conex Boxes website, there are large storage containers that can be used as temporary buildings and office space while yours is out of action. You can situate these outside the building, and work away from the distractions inside your actual office. Or, get everyone to work remotely from home. This is arguably more convenient, but slightly harder for you to stay in constant contact with your staff. Either way, work out of the office, and you can avoid all the noisy disruptions that may occur if you have a lot of work going on.

Split Up Your Work Week

Another possible solution is to completely split up your work weeks during the renovation process. For example, only work three out of the five days, giving the contractors time to carry out renovation work for two days straight. To make up for this, you can either work more extended hours on the days you’re in or maybe work for a few hours on the weekends instead. This is an idea that you may be forced into using if you can’t get contractors to work when your office closes, and you have no way of getting people to work out of the office.

There you go; three different ways to avoid disruptions during an office renovation. Each one may work best for certain companies, depending on how your office environment functions, and the severity of the renovation work. But, they’ll all help you avoid disruptions and remain as productive as possible!
