How To Keep Your Business Running With No Internet

Have you ever considered how much we rely on Internet services? Ask yourself this question…”could you successfully keep your business running with no Internet, and for how long? The majority of businesses rely on the Internet these days. From online applications to Skype conference calls, there are so many aspects of a company’s operations that rely on the net. Despite being so dependent on the Internet, though, you might be surprised to learn that there are still quite a few entrepreneurs who are completely unprepared for their Internet going down. How do you think you would cope if your company had no Internet for a period of time? Having a disaster or contingency plan in place is crucial. Here are a few things you could do during the downtime.

Return Any Phone Calls

You might not have any Internet, but that shouldn’t mean that you can’t use your office’s phones. So, now could be the perfect time to return any missed calls or get back to anyone who has left you a voicemail recently. Even though we often have the best intentions, most of us forget to return any calls when we are so busy shooting off emails online. Now that you can’t access your emails, it’s worth picking up the phone and saying hello in person.

Call For Backup

If you think that the Internet outage is only affecting your office and there doesn’t seem to be a widespread issue around town, it’s a good idea to call for some IT support. There are plenty of companies that now offer computer support services to a range of companies. They will be able to send out a computer expert who can take a look at your network and see if there is an issue that they can fix. If not, it could be worth calling your broadband supplier for further advice.

Work On Your Filing

Another job that often gets forgotten when we work online so much is filing paperwork. Even if you store most of your documents and contracts in digital formats on the cloud, you will still probably have a few in paper format in filing cabinets. It’s a good idea to take a look through these and make sure that they are well organized.

Enjoy a Team Lunch

If there isn’t much work you can be getting on with without the Internet, you might want to just take all of your employees out for a team lunch. If you have a large team of staff, you could send each department out for lunch so that they can enjoy some team-building time together.

Call A Meeting

I’m sure you will be able to hold a meeting without the Internet. You will just have to do it the old-fashioned way with pens and paper! If you have any team meetings planned for the next day or two, it’s worth moving them forward so you can do them while your Internet is down.
