Business evolution has brought about many changes over the years but one of the more positive and notable changes to business conduct is their charitable endeavours. There has been a marked shift the world over toward sustainability, social causes and giving back and businesses are certainly not immune from this. It is almost expected from the big multinational, exceptionally profitable companies. What is more, this ethos is filtering down to even the small local businesses and it is easy to see why.
Giving back as a business is good for both the employee and the customer. It promotes positive feelings of well-being and helps create strong relationships. It also provides networking and marketing opportunities that can finally benefit a business while still aiding the receipts. If nothing else, it allows your business to do something good and have a positive impact on the lives of others. Interested? Then here are some ways your business can give back to the community.
Get involved in charitable organizations
There are many ways to make a difference through charity and they are perhaps some of the easiest. Your business could simply donate a portion of the profits to a local charity, even small donations can have big impacts. Alternatively, your business could affiliate itself with a local charity and take part in fundraising activities or use the platform your company already has to further market the cause of the charity. Another great innovative way to raise money for a local charity is to provide customers with the opportunity to donate at checkout, this could be at a physical or online store. This then provides exposure to the local charity and the opportunity for them to raise money.
Get sharing
As a business owner, you are likely to have certain assets or skills and a great way to give back to the community is to share some of these assets. For example, you could host a local workshop that helps people in the community. For example, a tech-based company might offer up free tech classes to the community or as an entrepreneur you could hold seminars detailing how you got your company off the ground and inspire others to do the same. If you are unsure what skill or resource you could provide then why not consider opening up your premises to someone (free of charge) who could run a similar event or any event that positively involves the local community.
Be sustainable
Going green and adopting sustainable practices is a fantastic way of giving back to your local community and the worldwide community at once. You can of course make the obvious changes such as reducing waste, plastic usage and energy consumption but also consider the changes you could make that will directly affect your local community. Can you shop locally and source your business needs from your community? Not only will this help the local community, but it will also serve the wider purpose of helping to reduce your carbon footprint.
