Five Ways To Make Your Staff More Comfortable

Improving Focus in Your Office

One of the most essential things in our business is your staff. They’re keeping your vision alive and pushing the wheels of your business forward. If you want people to work for you, then you need to give them the support that they need to be successful. Without that support, they’re going to stop performing to the best of their ability, and they won’t be productive in their jobs.

The best way to do that is to keep your staff comfortable – and that means arranging their environment so that life feels easy when they head to the office every day. It’s your responsibility to ensure that everyone in your business can stay motivated and ready for anything. Let’s check out five easy ways to make your employees feel good while they work.

  1. Excellent Lighting. People cannot work when the lights are too dim. Brighter light can make people feel more positive, which then allows for better energy around the office. It’s not just the lightbulbs, either, but the natural light that needs to flood into the office space. If you place your desks in the room where the most natural light comes in, you’re going to keep your employees awake and ready for the day. Natural light is a great mood booster – so consider this carefully.
  2. A Time Out Space. Encouraging people to take time out of the office is essential, so ensuring that you provide an outdoor shelter and a covered walkway is a must. Your staff needs time away from screens to grab some fresh air and a break from the dry air of the office. If you make sure that you have a garden or space for them to be outside, you’re going to give them somewhere to take a moment and gear up for the rest of the day.
  3. Flexible Schedules. Considering family commitments and the time taken for the commute is essential. So, make sure that you have a level of flexibility for all of your staff. If people need staggered arrival times or need fluidity with pick up times for school, then it’s smart to offer flexible scheduling. They’ll thank you for accommodating it and remembering that they have lives outside of work.
  4. A Splash of Colour. People need color to appreciate in the day time, which means ensuring that you have done more than just painted the space white and left it dull! Stimulating colors can make a big difference in the way they work and feel throughout the day.
  5. Food! Does anyone ever turn down free food? If you don’t supply lunch as a rule, then make sure that you have a catering van come every day for people to choose their lunch and pay for it for them. If this isn’t possible, provide a breakfast platter every morning and drinks to keep your team motivated and encouraged.

It’s essential to do your best for the people who work for you – they’ll work better if you do better for them, too.
