I cannot tell you how many times I’ve been asked,
“How do I get more customers online?”
As a brand or business, you have a website and social media presence in order to attract potential customers, deliver information about your products/services and prayerfully, land a new client.
So why do most brands have a hard time converting web visitors and social media “friends” to tangible customers? Part of the issues is we fail to customize our online marketing to meet the needs of potential customers.
Why does your target audience or potential customer browse the internet anyway?
- 99 percent use e‑mail
- 75 percent seek information—including product information
- 64 percent visit travel sites
- 62 percent visit weather-related sites
- 55 percent perform educational research
- 54 percent visit health and medicine sites
- 50 percent purchase products and services
- 47 percent visit government sites
- 38 percent seek job opportunities
- 33 percent play games
- 12 percent trade stocks
(Zimmerman, 2003, p. 15)
So, unfortunately, most of the time, our audience is not browsing the web looking for us. 🙁
Well, here are some useful tips that will allow your online brand to stand out from the competition and capture the attention of potential customers.
- KISS. Keep It Simple Silly. Spell out what services you offer and how you can help the client immediately.
- Reduce super fancy graphics and complex screens.
- Make next steps or check out easy and secure.
- Deliver on time—keep your promises.
- Provide all of this within the fewest clicks possible.
This is just the tip of the iceberg… but it is a start. I did create a complete checklist over at VIRTUALVillage Media for the best tips to convert web traffic to customers.
