Summer and warm weather can mean long days and plenty of sunshine, but sometimes you just want to beat the heat. Whether you have the option of staying indoors when working or not, summer heats up everything. Luckily, these eight tips can help you keep your workplace environment cool as a cucumber in the office.
Air Conditioning
One of the best ways to stay cool is air condition. If your home doesn’t have it, you can always get an AC rental to cool any room in your home or office space. Pair your AC with a fridge on rent to store cool beverages guaranteed to help you cool off.
Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water and fluids. The better hydrated you are, the less likely you are to suffer from heat-related problems. When you have properly hydrated your body, it is better able to regulate your temperature.
Rearrange Your Schedule
If possible, take your daily run or other outdoor activity during the coolest parts of the day. When you do have to go outdoors during the hottest part of the day make sure you’re prepared.
Dress Appropriately
You can wear less clothing or choose natural, breathable fabrics that will allow for air to circulate around your body. Cotton and linen are two such fabrics. Moisture-wicking fabrics are also great for staying cool and dry.
Ice and Fan
If you don’t have air conditioning in your home or office, a bowl of ice and a fan can make the temperatures more bearable. As the fan blows it will mist you with the water from the evaporating ice.
Cool Showers
If you have the ability to take a shower whenever you get the notion, jump into a cold shower to make yourself more comfortable. Allowing yourself to air dry will also reduce your body temperature. The water will act as sweat to help cool you down.
Cooling Towels
Cooling towels are quite the innovation. They’re made from special material that absorbs and retains cool water. Whether you’re indoors or outdoors, placing one of these towels on your head or neck can provide instant relief from sweltering summer days. A wet towel kept inside a cooler can also be helpful in place of a cooling towel, which can be a real treat to have in the office.
Make Your Own Shade
All you need is a light colored sheet, long stakes and something to secure it with. Once you place your stakes in the ground you can drape the sheet over the stakes. You can use ropes to secure the sheet to the stakes if needed. Blinds can be better for an office environment too, should you need them.
Staying cool is a must in the summer. You will be more comfortable and at less risk of suffering from heat stroke or heat exhaustion. Some of these ideas may seem simple but don’t let that stop you from trying them. You just may be surprised at how cool you are and how much more productive you can be.
