How To Successfully Add A Store To Your Blog For Entrepreneurs

The Entrepreneurs Guide Adding a Store to Your Blog FEATURED

Bloggers today can make money from a range of different income streams. They can earn from advertising, sponsored posts, affiliate marketing, and they can sell. As a blogger, you can sell your ideas and advice, through courses, eBooks and members online areas. You can also sell physical products, either that you produce yourself or sell on from wholesale. Having different sources of income means that you can always make steady money. It gives you a chance to create a business and a brand,  and convert your audience into loyal customers. Selling adds something extra to your blog.

Find A Product

The first thing that you need is an idea. You need to know what to sell. You might already have a craft or product that you make that people have shown an interest in, or there may be an obvious leap from what you are currently writing about. A food blogger, for example, could sell a cookbook or some branded kitchen equipment. Whatever you chose to sell, try to make sure it’s a good fit for your blog. If it’s not, consider starting a separate Etsy store, or a completely new blog.

Choose a Platform

Adding a sales platform to your blog gives you the chance to easily sell products by displaying pictures, descriptions and sales information. It then lets you add a cart, take payment details and arrange deliveries. Some of the more popular sales platforms for bloggers include the PayPal widget, Shopify and woocommerce. All of which are easy to add.

10 Must Have Resources to Grow Your Business

Add Information

If you are going to be selling to the public, you’ll need to add some extra information to your site. This could include updating your privacy policies and disclaimers but also adding delivery costs and shipping times. Make sure you are honest and realistic with this information.

Add Payment Options

When you sell online, payment options are important. You can’t accept cash like a brick and mortar store could, and people have come to expect options. They want it to be easy to pay for their purchases. You need to be able to accept credit card payments at the very least, but the more options that you can offer, the better.

Let People Know

If you are adding a new service or element to your blog, you need to let people know. Don’t just assume that people will notice a new tab on your menu. They might not. Advertise your store on social media, with emails, with guest posts on other sites and even by paying for advertising. Make sure you also update your metadata and the description of your site with structured data, so that Google and other search engines find and display the right information. It might also be worth starting with a special offer to grab people’s interest and show them what you’ve got to offer.
