Advertise Your Business Locally With These 4 Tips

Advertise Your Business Locally With These 4 Tips

The majority of small businesses only have a low budget when it comes to advertising, and that can be restrictive.  It certainly is not impossible, but it takes a lot more thinking about how you spend that money for the most exposure possible and benefit. Before the internet was a thing, adverts in the phone book or the local newspaper were the usual way of getting your name out there, alongside billboards, flyers, and posters. Nowadays, small businesses are aware of how important it is to excel at search engine optimization (SEO) and how important it is to rank highly on Google.

However, no matter how well you do online if you are a small business trying to attract local customers, you need to allocate money from your marketing budget for hyper-local methods of advertising. Here, we look at a few ways in which you can do this.

Car Wraps and Decals

If you are driving around your local community, it may be a good idea to consider wraps for cars and trucks with your business name, logo and contact details. Wherever you go – whether to a business meeting or a trip to pick up the groceries, people will notice the vehicle and take note.

Social Media

Advertising on social media platforms such as Twitter,  Facebook, and Instagram can not only reach a massive range of people quickly, but it is also free or can be done on a very low budget.  Adverts allow you to focus in on your audience and location and really target a particular demographic. You could also consider posting adverts and messages in local selling and community groups.

Get More Customers Online - The Masterclass

Get involved with the local community.

Getting involved with the people in your local community is a great way of getting your business name known. This may be in the form of sponsoring a kids soccer team, or a project at a local school or kindergarten. Usually, if you help out a cause, they often have an opportunity for your name to be printed somewhere so people can see it. Not only will you be doing something good for the local area, but people will recognize it and be more likely to buy from you.

Traditional print advertising

Since the growth in digital advertising and marketing, traditional print forms have declined, but it’s effectiveness certainly should not be ignored.

Local newspapers and magazines quite often offer a variety of advertising formats, from box adverts and inserts to small business features and interviews. These can be really useful, especially the latter, as it allows you to go into more detail about what you are offering, and gives people the chance to get to know the face behind the business, which is essential.

Other things that you may want to think about are direct mail or flyers and leaflets posted through doors and mailboxes. Inevitably, many will throw them away without a second glance, but there will be some that take notice and keep you in mind, which is precisely what you are looking for.
