Can You Really Be a Solopreneur?

Can You Really Be a Solopreneur?

A few years ago, solopreneur wasn’t a term that was widely used. You might never have heard the word. Now, it’s something that many of us dream of being. We long to give up the grind of working for someone else. We want to give up the commute and stop being stuck in a job that doesn’t make us happy, spending our time working hard for a minimal wage, making money for someone else.

But, being a solopreneur isn’t just about working for yourself and running your own business. It’s about more than enjoying your work and creating something for yourself. It’s a lifestyle choice. Those of us that do work for ourselves are proud. We work flexibly, we incorporate our hobbies into our work, and we make time to do the things that we really love.

The word solopreneur, however, implies doing it all alone. While this has it’s advantages, and can even work well in the beginning, if you want flexibility and time for yourself, it’s a good idea to avoid being completely solo. You might want to work at home on your own, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t have a little outside help.

Doing it all alone can be stressful. You might find that you quickly burn out, that you make mistakes, and that you aren’t able to give your business the focus that it really needs. Even getting a little help from a friend in particularly busy periods can ease your stress massively.

Taking time away gives you a chance to rest, and work more flexibly. It can be good for your health and wellbeing. But it can also boost your creativity and productivity when you are at work.

Outsourcing Work Can Give You Access to Experts

Get Support

Sometimes, the help that you need is a little less formal. You need support, as well as experts and assistants. Make sure your family and friends understand your business and are there for you when you need them. You might also want to find some other business owners, and make friends with people in similar situations.
