Yali Saar, CEO, and Founder of Tailor Brands joined us for our latest Savvy Entrepreneur Spotlight session on Thursday, February 22nd. He shared a wealth of information with the community on the Tailor Brands platform, branding and marketing in the future, and a few surprises along the way.
Yali, who is originally from Tel Aviv, surprisingly started his career as a television and theater actor. He later stumbled into journalism, and then worked as a political activist. He eventually found his calling when he joined the advertising agency BBDO. With the knowledge and experience he gained, he moved to New York and started his first business, a non-profit branding education firm. The company quickly grew to 100 employees, with offices in New York, San Francisco, Hong Kong and Sydney.
The Tailor Brands Platform
After closing his non-profit business, Yali and two of his closest friends began thinking about their future plans. They brainstormed a few ideas and decided to test them all. One idea consisted of using algorithms to replace traditional templates for design purposes. As this seemed to be the most viable of the ideas, the three partners set out to develop the concept further.
Tailor Brands, created three years ago, is based in Tel Aviv with a second office in New York. The company started out by offering a generator platform which uses algorithms to create logos for their customers. As demand for additional services grew, Yali and his team wanted to offer the same quality products as some of the larger companies. Using their algorithms, they created the first automated branding platform. To date, the company offers its wide range of services to 4 million businesses worldwide.
A Logo is Just the Beginning
Tailorbrands.com is an online platform that anyone can access. The majority of Tailor Brands customer base is made up of micro businesses, freelancers, entrepreneurs and small businesses. After inputting a business name or project idea, and answering a few questions, the site uses machine learning to customize a logo for the customer. Once the logo is generated, customers are able to download the logo for free or choose one of two brand marketing plans for additional designs.
Among the additional designs are various logo sizes, social media images, brand marketing strategies, scheduling options, and even the creation of a new Facebook page.
One of the key points that Yali shared with the community is that “a logo is just an anchor for a brand”. In other words, the logo is just the starting point. Branding expands to packaging, social media, and both a physical and online presence. Which is why, Yali and his team are currently developing additional features for the platform, including strategy management, and ad management.
An Even Playing Field
Yali is extremely passionate about providing excellent service to Tailor Brands customers. In his words, the company set out to “demolish the equation of price vs. quality”. With this in mind, all customers receive the same level of branding services that they would find at higher prices with other companies. In addition, the quality of their products and services helps customers ensure a consistent look and feel for their business.
Another key topic during the discussion focused on differentiating your business and making it unique. While this is often easier said than done, consistent branding and marketing help to make this element successful. “It’s never too early to start your online presence”, says Yali. However, it is important that branding plays a pivotal role in how you market your products and services.
“Good branding is all about creating a story that pushes a product”
When it comes to being an entrepreneur, his motto is simply “I can try, I can fail, and I can repeat until I succeed”. Many entrepreneurs and small business owners can relate to that principle, especially in the area of funding. As Yali puts it, “funding brings in a lot of politics”, and sometimes it’s better to do without.
Yali reminded us of how much the world is changing, and that branding has to change with it. Many businesses are moving towards simplified branding styles primarily due to technology. The smaller the devices, the smaller the logos have to be.
Yali is fortunate to have had many successes along his path towards becoming an entrepreneur. Tailor Brands is leading in their own space by helping millions of business recognize their dreams. He is most grateful that he’s able to go to work every day with his best friends and work on things they love.

It's time for another mouth-watering Savvy Entrepreneur Spotlight. Now we feature, Yali Saar, Tailor Brands. Yali graduated from Columbia University, worked in the Creative Department at BBDO in New York and served as Chief Creative Officer at Raising The Bar. He co-founded Tailor Brands in 2014 and serves as the CEO. "I was working for BBDO, and realized that there was a large discrepancy in the equation of time versus quality. The equation seems very logical to big corporations because they can spend the money. But, when you go to the smaller players, there is really an issue. If somebody is opening up a coffee shop, and he wants to compete with Starbucks just across the road, there is really a huge barrier of entry. After having the idea for a while, he collaborated with two friends (Nadav – Head of Tech and Tom – Head of Product) and they developed a vision of how to try and solve that equation. The idea was to create a mechanism that would enable them to automate a lot of the functions that they were already performing manually. They then developed a machine learning-based platform that would allow the system to do anything from designing a logo to writing social posts for any small businesses. This was the basis of Tailor Brands (www.tailorbrands.com)." Tailor Brands is an automated branding service that allows small businesses and entrepreneurs to create affordable logos and branded designs instantly. To hear more, LIVE, join us! See you there!
