When it comes to starting up a company in comparison to going down the franchise route, there can be an abundance of positives and negatives associated with both. So let’s break it down a bit further.
The Recognition Of A Brand
As the topic of delivering better customer service is a common one in business. Instead of earning the trust of a customer as you would in a startup, you can use the power of a franchise to bolster your business image. For companies like Avon, it immediately conjures up a specific image in relation to the brand. You know where you are. As a result, if you’re looking to hit up a franchise this could save you a lot of aggravation in the marketing process.
The Appropriate Help
Established franchises work at helping those that bought into it. The Microgreens Farmer brand comes with a lot of resources which is indispensable to the amateur entrepreneur. And that is the power of a franchise, that it gives you the chance to buy into something that has a history, and not only this, actually works at developing the franchisees. When you are going down the startup route there is help available, but it’s not as concentrated. You could argue that this is less stringent, but with a franchise that works at developing the entrepreneur, you could argue they’re doing it from the perspective that they need to bolster their reputation.
Does It Give You The Opportunity To Put Your Stamp On It?
It depends on the franchise. With a startup, you learn the ropes as you go, and you go by what you want- it’s your business. With a franchise, you can feel you’re not able to provide as much input or originality into it. In some ways, you are following a set of rules, and this can be true, but it depends on the franchise in question.
A Business Is A Business
But at the end of the day, if you are to make a living in business, you will still have to put in the legwork. Just because it’s a franchise doesn’t mean that it will do the work for you, and when you’re starting up your own company under your own volition, you have still got to put in the legwork regardless. A business is a business, and if you’re under the impression that buying into a franchise is a shortcut to earning big bucks right away, you are very much mistaken!
You could argue that it’s safer to go through the franchise option, but only because there’s a name behind it already. If you’re going via a franchise that’s not well known, you have still got that uphill battle ahead of you to get the brand recognized.
