If you blog for your business, you need to think about the content that you are creating. The content is important for establishing your niche and targeting your ideal customer. Once you have identified your niche, it is crucial that your blog content relate back to the topic your readers are struggling with.
Think About Your End Goal
What is the end goal for your blog? Do you want to boost your income? Or do you just want to write and get information out there? If the latter is the case, having a general content isn’t going to be the end of the world. However, if you are using it to help boost the business and income, then having a niche is important. When you have a niche for your content, you can use it to grow an audience and readership. In addition, it could mean creating a product or service line around that.
Evergreen Readership
Think about 3 types of vertical marketing. Vertical marketing is for a specific market, whereas horizontal marketing is for a diverse audience. Like vertical marketing, having a niche means you always have specific content for your target customers. Your audience has a problem that you have the solution for. They are coming to you for your knowledge on this specific problem.
Readers Getting the Content That They Want
Having a niche helps you to create a readership base. That is going to help you to get page views, follows, and a customer base. If the topics on your blog change all of the time, you miss out on developing loyal readership. If you have a specific blog, you’ll attract the readership that will want to know what you are talking about next. This value will make it more likely for brands to want to work with you as well.
Take a look at what successful people with blogs are doing. Many of them have plenty of posts that are quite themed and niche, rather than a variety of different posts. If you can’t just pick one theme, then you could consider getting more than one blog. However, when it comes to growing a blog and helping it to grow a business, it is better to go niche or go home.
