You probably know by now that your most important assets are your employees. Therefore, it is important to show your employees how much you value and appreciate them. Reward your employees when they have completed a difficult project. Show them some appreciation when they go the extra mile. When you show them some love, you are also boosting their motivation, which ultimately makes them want to work harder.
Take them out to lunch
A friendly lunch with the boss is always a nice treat. While it may seem slightly un-epic, there is a reason for its popularity. It helps to establish a personal connection between you and your employee. Try to keep the conversation light by asking them about their life and long-term goals. Do not discuss work, or pick their brain about other employees. The point of the lunch is to focus on them. Be engaging, and feel free to share the story about your success. A special touch would be to find out their favorite type of food and make reservations ahead of time. A good boss may manage his or her company well, but an excellent boss knows how to connect with the employees and take an interest in their lives as well.
Treat them to an event
Most people love a good concert, stand-up comedy show or art exhibition. Find out what your employees are interested in as far as entertainment. It would be a shame to buy art exhibition tickets to someone who couldn’t care less about art. You can easily find great tickets to all sorts of events online using TicketOffices, so you shouldn’t have to search long once you know what you’re looking for.
Impromptu time off
Who doesn’t love a day at work that’s shorter than expected? It’s even a great way to treat your entire team at once. Simply send them an email to let them know that they can come in an hour or two later tomorrow. Or make an announcement that since it’s such a lovely afternoon, they can head home early. It will not only make you the best boss ever in their eyes, but it will also surely boost their motivation.
Similarly, you can consider treating some of your team members to a work-from-home day. Those with children or pets will really appreciate it and you’re showing them that you care about their personal lives as well – it’s not all work, after all.
Rewarding hard-working employees rather than scolding the ones who fall behind is the best way to motivate everybody in a positive way. Show them some love and they will definitely reward you back by putting in the extra effort.
