The Entrepreneur’s Guide To Decorating Your Office or Shop

The Entrepreneur's Guide To Decorating Your Office or Shop FEATURED

For many entrepreneurs, the struggles to launch and secure a great space for your business may be enough to contend with. This process alone can be draining and stressful. However, those feelings seem to quickly disappear when it’s time to decorate your store. Being able to put your creative talents to use helps remind many entrepreneurs of their “why”, their reason for starting the business. When you open up a store for the first time you want to make a positive and distinguished impression. It is incredibly important that you are able to make a good first impression on your customers and that your store offers an inviting window into your brand.

Paint an accent wall

The first thing you can consider doing in your new store is painting one of the walls a bright and exciting color. You could go ahead and try to paint every wall, however, this might make your space feel a little bit crowded and busy, therefore choosing one wall to accent the space is a better idea. If you don’t want to stick to choosing one color, you could paint two or three colors onto one wall in a geometric design or even think about hanging wallpaper. This will give your store some personality right from the start and allow you to bring some of your character into the room.

Window spaces

If you rent a space which has more than one small room, you can open it up by installing window areas to use as shelves for the area. You can display things like plants or candles on these ledges to help make it feel larger than it is. Adding elements like this to your store can bring a more unique look and make people remember you.

Hang vertically

When it comes to displaying the items you have it can be an instinct to simply fill your store with as many tables or racks as physically possible, but there is a better way to make your items feel more high end than they might be. Have you ever noticed that designer stores always have vertical shelving to show off every item? You can create this atmosphere in your own store and stack upwards to create the feeling of extravagance and style in your store.

10 Must Have Resources to Grow Your Business

Avoid clutter

The worst thing you can do in your store is make it feel cramped and cluttered. When people walk into your space they want to be able to look around and browse without getting and other people’s way and without banging into items. Make sure that you limit the number of items you have on the shop floor to create a cleaner look. You can always store other items in the back just in case you run out of a certain size or color of an item during the day.

Pin products

There is more than one way to show off your merchandise to your audience. If you have smaller items to display in the store, a shelf simply won’t do the item justice. Instead, think about buying a cork board and pinning your smaller items to it to show them off in a more dynamic way. This will not only be great for your sales, but it will break up the design of your store and make it feel more diverse.

Hang up some art

If you really want to make your store feel like it is a second home for you and your customers, you will want to bring a sense of character and personality into the space with some fun artwork. Think about hanging up some artwork which has been made by your staff. You can even hang up photographs of your team on the walls to make it feel more like home. This will impact your store in a very positive way and will be a great way to decorate blank wall spaces.

Illuminate your space

Lighting is incredibly important in your shop because it will allow your customers to see your items and decide whether or not they want to buy them. Some stores go for a darker theme and a lot of the time this can be off-putting for shoppers because they feel as if they are being caged in. Think about bringing some fun lighting into the store like Pendant Lights, LED lighting strips and even think about mirrors to reflect the light around the room. It will make a massive difference to the overall atmosphere of your store and make it feel spacious and modern.

Think themes

When you are designing your store make sure to leave plenty of room for window designs throughout the year and be sure to make the most of every season of the year. Think about bringing in some pastel colors and flowers in the spring, add beach elements and rainbows in the summer, stick to fallen leaves and tartan in the autumn and make a winter wonderland at the end of the year. Taking advantage of the seasons can bring a whole new lease of life to your store and make it feel much more fun and bright. You can even think about hanging a huge Christmas tree in the store during the festive period!

Chalkboard wall

If you want to add a sense of character and fun to your walls you can paint one of your walls with chalk paint and then leave sticks of chalk out in the store for people to us. This is a great way for customers to leave positive reviews and comments. You can also hang some cacti or succulents in front of the chalkboard wall for a contrast in color and an effortlessly modern look.
