4 Bad Habits That Can Destroy Your Productivity

3 Huge Signs You're Not Ready For Black Friday

Do you want to know why you aren’t completing work ahead of time? Do you want to know why you aren’t being as productive as you used to be? It may be because you have fallen prey to too many bad habits. In business, your focus should be on increasing productivity, not reducing it, so consider the following. If any are true to you, then it’s time to make the relevant changes, for the sake of your business.

Bad Habit #1: You aren’t going to bed on time

Why aren’t you getting enough sleep? Do you take work home with you and sit at your desk for long hours? Do you sit in front of the television longer than you should? Whatever the reason, you need to quit this habit. You will only feel tired in the day, and your lethargy will affect your productivity. Set yourself a bedtime and stick to it, as you will feel more refreshed and energized when the morning comes around. Your productivity depends on it.

Bad Habit #2: You don’t delegate enough

Why aren’t you delegating enough? Are you trying to stay in control of every facet of your business? Are you afraid to trust others? Whatever the situation, you need to give up this habit. Only take on the tasks that relate to your position, and delegate anything else to your employees. And if there are tasks that you struggle with, such as managing the needs of your website, consider outsourcing them to a web design company or whatever firm applies to the job roles that you are weakest in. You will have more time to get on with other things if you do, instead of getting bogged down in processes that affect your productivity elsewhere.

Bad Habit #3: You are skipping meals

The reason why you might be skipping meals is that you have too much work to do, but this is counterproductive. As with a lack of sleep, your body will become sluggish if you don’t eat properly, and you will struggle to remain focused on the tasks at hand. Give your day a kickstart by eating a healthy breakfast. Stop working at lunchtime and have something nutritious to eat. And continue healthy eating practices when you head home in the evening. Having a quick biscuit in the morning, or opting for a bar of chocolate to keep hunger pangs at bay during lunch just won’t cut it.

Bad Habit #4: You constantly check your emails or social media

How many times a day do you check your emails? How often are you checking social media, be it your personal or business accounts? If you overdo it, it stands to reason that you won’t get a lot of work done. Log out of your email and social media accounts when you have deadlines to meet. Only check them during your designated break times. And refrain from replying to anything that isn’t urgent or work-related, as you can do this at a later time when work has been completed.

Finally

How many of those bad habits are you guilty of? If any relate to you, do the right thing, and kick those bad habits into touch. Otherwise, you will be constantly be playing catch-up with the work on your desk, and that will drive down your productivity further.
