6 Signs Your Employees Are Unhappy

6 Signs Your Employees Are Unhappy FEATURED

If your employees are unhappy and disengaged, chances are that it will eventually affect their productivity. The mistake that most employers make is not noticing the signs. They suddenly see employees leaving, quality of work dropping, and things just not going the way they envisioned when they started their business. Knowing the signs to look out for will help you to change what you’re doing before it’s too late. It’s important to remember that most of the time, these signs aren’t issues in your employees, but issues in the way you’re running your business.

They Procrastinate

Do your employees tend to procrastinate rather than take care of the task at hand? If this is often the case, it’s a big sign that they are disengaged from their work and that they’d rather be doing something else. Some people naturally procrastinate more than others. Some people need a little more motivation to get things done, while others tend to be more self-motivated. However, it can be tough for anybody to stay motivated in a business that isn’t being run properly. Facebook and email can be responsible for lack of productivity, but it could also be due to the fact that your leadership skills need work.

They Have Lots Of Sick Days

The staff that has lots of sick days tend to be unhappier. While your employees may be genuinely ill, it could stem from work-related stress. Is the workplace untidy and unhealthy? Perhaps employees are simply needing to take more mental health days because the workplace is toxic. If employees are taking too many days off, you need to determine why and implement ways to improve the situation. Work on the things you can do to improve this and make them actually want to come in. It should be a place that supports good health both mentally and physically.

You’re Constantly Looking For Someone New To Hire

Are you constantly looking for someone new to hire? A high employee turnover is a huge sign that something has to change within your business. You could get help with procurement job recruitment, but the fact remains that your workplace needs improvement. There is no point in hiring great employees if you have to keep replacing them!

There’s Office Drama

Having an open door policy can help to nip office drama in the bud. However, look at the reasons for these issues that are cropping up and figure out what the problem truly is. If there is a dispute between employees, work to mediate the situation and come to a resolution.

They Watch The Clock

It’s normal to be excited to go home at the end of a long day, but if your employees are constantly clock watching, there’s a problem. Meet with these employees and determine if the cause is work or home related. Maybe they have to rush out to pick up children? Or perhaps, they feel overwhelmed with the amount of work they are tasked with. Keep the lines of communication open at all times.

Secrecy/Lack Of Transparency

Do you sense secrecy or a lack of transparency within your employees? If so, this can have a negative impact on your business, so it is something to take seriously. Again, meet with your employees and inform them of your concerns. If needed, review company policies and make sure they are fully aware of how your business operates.
