Fixing An Office No One Wants To Work In

Fixing An Office No One Wants To Work In

You’ve got a business to run, and you run it from your central hub of an office in the bustling downtown center. It’s the dream place to work, really. There are all kinds of amenities nearby, for a morning coffee or a spot of lunch. There’s a gym next door, and your employees get a discount on membership to it. There are views from your window all across the city, and it’s a lovely thing to stare out over when you’ve finished tapping out all your emails for the day.

However, the actual office itself is a place no one really wants to be spending their time. Your employees do not want to work in a cramped and dirty office. It’s an uncomfortable environment. But what can you do to change things?

If It’s Far Too Hot

If you’ve got a stuffy building on your hands, you’ve got one where the air is thick and the atmosphere is humid. Your employees are sweating at their desks, and there’s a strange smell coming from somewhere in the office… It’s a very oppressive working environment, and no one is going to be able to focus when they feel too hot to even sit still.

But this can be easily fixed with window replacements, some reglazing, open doors, water machines, and even checking out the nearby air conditioner rentals. After all, you can easily fumigate a room by just opening it up a little, and if you don’t have the money to get your own AirCon unit installed, you can just hire one out to give your employees a breather!

If It’s Too Cold

On the other hand, if the office you’re working in is one your teeth are constantly chattering, you’re going to feel equally uncomfortable, if not more so. If you’re shivering, you’re using energy to try and warm yourself up, and that means your brain won’t be working to its full potential on the tasks of the day. And the same goes for all of your staff members! Not to mention, the number of coats in the office can end up being a trip hazard, especially when draped over the back of chairs.

Get some space heaters, which are quite cheap to buy, and hook them up in at least three separate points of the office. Offer hot drinks in the break room all day long, and think about getting someone in to check the radiators, and to bleed them if need be. Even forego having your employees wear uniforms, or their usual professional clothing, and let them wrap up in some thicker clothing whilst they’re at work for a while.

Health and safety is a top priority in the working world, and when you’ve got an office that has an uncomfortable (and potentially harmful) environment, you’ve got to change it as soon as possible! Use tips like these until you can make permanent changes.
