How To Keep Business Meetings From Dragging On

How To Keep Business Meetings From Dragging On

There are quite a few elements of a business that take weeks and months to complete. Maybe it’s a new marketing campaign or the innovation of a new product that your customers have been asking for. However, many of the day-to-day tasks can be handled rather quickly, namely business meetings. With careful planning, an agenda, and time management, business meetings do not have to eat up your entire day.

Limit the Conference Room Use

You don’t have to literally ban it, but you can implement a block scheduling system quite easily. This would allow staff to block out a couple of hours at a time for a meeting. Meetings can be all consuming when it comes to a full business day. You need your managers and executives back at their posts to get on with the operations.

The first thing you’re going to want to do is make the conference room more flexible (see Proximity Platform). Make sure everyone required to be at meetings can book their own times. You can even put an alarm on the end of a meeting to make sure no one is going over!

Have a Clear Purpose

Meetings can easily get sidetracked when we try to conduct a monthly review or bring up a certain topic. Make sure you come up with a main purpose and then give yourself a maximum amount of related points to bring up. Then carry on with the day once the meeting is over. If anyone has anything else to say, they can simply email the points over to everyone involved in the meeting.

Your company meetings needn’t take long, as long as you leave yourself with some wiggle room!
