The Entrepreneur’s Guide To Market Research

In recent years, we have seen a significant growth in freelance businesses and the need for better ways to target audiences. Market research techniques have changed drastically and we learn more about customer habits. Getting across to our customers means that we have to undertake a drastic overhaul of how we conduct business.

We Have To Analyze

Whether you are B2B or B2C, understanding customer habits through back-office functions like CRM systems is a vital cog in the business world. However, analyzing the data- gathering isn’t enough anymore. The fact is, when it comes to buying habits, we have to implement personal touches for each individual customer. We have to over-deliver when it comes to customer expectation, and now, we treat them more like they are robots rather than actual people. Gathering the data is all well and good, but it’s time to dig deep and analyze this data so we can use it to our advantage and beat the competition.

Is There Such Thing As The Right Marketing Tool Anymore?

While we can hire an AdWords consultant to make sense of monetizing our website, many people don’t have the finances to do this. Instead, some businesses rely on tools such as Buzzsumo, Flipsnack, and Ubersuggest, to help target their audience. It seems that there are numerous options to choose from now, and the idea of the perfect marketing tool is non-existent. It’s about using the perfect tool for your specific business style.

Don’t Just Rely On Technology

Surprisingly, technology doesn’t always provide an accurate measure of our marketing efforts. While it does give us an insight into consumer trends, we still need to appeal to our customers’ innate human instincts. This doesn’t just mean sending out an email, but the personal touch and addressing them according to their own individual needs. Building relationships is still the most vital component of appealing to customers. And now, technology has replaced so many aspects of communication, that there is a digital wall between us and every consumer.

Honesty is always the best policy, whether our systems go down, we suffer a data breach, or we aren’t able to deliver what we promise. Technology is great in terms of how we communicate, but it doesn’t compensate for what we communicate. We need to ensure that our customers are able to get in touch with us, but also that we can deliver what we promised to them.

Pin Down The Millennial Generation

To reach our customers, we have to have some solid facts and figures. This is especially true when it comes to millennials. The millennial generation as the key instigator of profit now. When it comes to communicating with our customers, social media is the preferred method for millennials. It’s not just about social media and Instagram posts; it’s about podcasts, YouTube videos, and similar information. Not only this, but we have to focus on the millennial generation, not just in terms of how we communicate with them, but also by knowing what their expectations are.

Their expectations are different from the generations that preceded them. As a result, there is an inherent focus of going online. As already mentioned, technology is a wonderful way for us to communicate, but we have to anticipate our customers’ needs before they know what they want. Yes, our website has to be mobile-friendly and fast, but we have to look at the buying habits of the millennial generation.

Getting across to a customer now isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach. Technology has so many uses, but we can place too much reliance on this. Yes, marketing, and analyzing is necessary, but building relationships are key.
