4 Tips for a Successful Staff Appreciation Party

How To Safely Show Employee Appreciation For Entrepreneurs

Some entrepreneurs get into the habit of thinking that it’s their customers who are the most important people to their business. It’s not true. The people on your staff are the most important players. Customers know virtually nothing about your business; your staff knows it inside out. As such, it’s important that you’re doing all you can to ensure that they’re feeling happy, motivated, and appreciated. Even small gestures can go a long way! But, as with everything, the bigger, the better. So why not look at hosting a staff appreciation party? Below, we take a look at some useful tips for ensuring it goes off without a hitch.

Get Out of the Office

Sure, you could host the party in the office. But let’s be real for a second — that would be a little bit lame. It’s not really a party if it takes place at 6 pm, and everyone’s still wearing their work clothes. If you’re going to show your appreciation, then go bigger! It’s much better to, say, take the team out for a meal, or hire a place where you can make your own party. Whatever it is, just make sure that you’re away from the office, and that people have an opportunity to get dressed up.

Core Team Planners

You might trust your ability to know exactly what your staff would want from a party atmosphere, but it’s worth rejecting that idea. Unless you’ve been paying close attention to what your team like, then you’ll want to rope in some help. This night, after all, is supposed to be for them. Look at recruiting a couple of planners, who can help come up with ideas and also help organize the evening. Don’t assign the task though — just ask people who you think might enjoy being involved in the planning stages if they’ll help out. They’ll say yes — it’s a fun thing to be involved in.

Show Your Gratitude

While the emphasis should be on having fun, it’s also important that you make some time in the evening to show your appreciation. You can do this by making a speech of thanks to your team, and also by handing out corporate awards to the employees who have performed the best since the last appreciation party. As we said, however, the emphasis should be on fun. The gratitude and the like should be the reason for the event, but don’t make it another company event. Let your staff have a good time.

Foot The Bill

There’s no debate around who should foot the bill when it comes to an employee appreciation party. It has to be the company! If you ask everyone else to pay their way, then you’ll run into a series of issues. For starters, some people won’t want to come — you don’t know about people’s financial status. Perhaps they can’t afford a night on the town! Second, and most importantly, it doesn’t exactly show appreciation. It just looks like you’re trying to get workers to hang out with each other. Make sure the company pays!
