How To Make Your Business Gold Star Green For 2020

It’s impossible and irresponsible to ignore the current state of the environment, and as a business, you should be taking all the measures that you can to ensure that you’re doing your bit for the planet. If you’re not sure where to start, check out these environmentally friendly ways to manage your business so that you can do your bit to help save our planet.

Start a carpool

One of the biggest causes of pollution is the sheer number of cars and vehicles on our roads. Start a carpool and work out who can travel to work together so that as a business, you can cut down the amount of fuel you’re collectively using each week. Not only will you be helping save the planet, but your employees will also save on their own fuel consumption too. Just remember to make sure that the people who are driving are receiving contributions towards their fuel costs. This can also help build relationships within the workplace too, meaning that your staff will communicate and work together better. For those who live locally, encourage them to bike into work. Make this easy for them by providing a bicycle shelter and lockers for them to store their helmets and clothing.

Go paperless

There are so many ways n which going paperless can benefit your business as well as the environment, and it’s a relatively straightforward process. It will reduce your paper and printing costs, increase space as you don’t have to file bits of paper away and can save on human resources.

Use eco-friendly cleaning products

Did you know that a lot of cleaning products are terribly harmful to the environment? The fumes that are released when most cleaning products are used damage the ozone layer and are significant contributors to global warming. Not only that, but they can be harmful to yours or your employee’s health.

Fortunately, there are plenty of green cleaning products that you could use instead that will do the job precisely the same, and not pose a threat to your health or the environment.

Invest in alternative forms of power

Most of the time, the most harmful thing we do to the planet, is using its natural resources to power our business. There are various other ways of generating energy that won’t harm our planet.

Solar panels are an incredible way of reusing the energy from the sun. While they might be a significant investment, to begin with, solar panels pay for themselves within a year of purchasing them. Not only that, but consumers comment that during the summertime especially, they notice a dramatic drop in energy costs. Many energy suppliers will buy any unused energy off you, so it is possible to make a profit as well.

Recycle, recycle, recycle

As a business, you may find that even though you’re putting the right waste into bins, that you’re still wasting a lot of resources. Old electrical equipment, for example, could be donated to schools and churches instead of going to landfill.

As you can see, there are plenty of ways in which you can turn your business into an environmentally friendly one! Many of these will save you money and help your business in the long run too.
